Sly Clyde Ciderworks starting taking Virginia’s Cider scene by storm in August 2018. Just blocks from the beach and bathed by the sun, Sly Clyde has been selling a range of modern and reserve ciders in bars, restaurants, and its own tasting room in Phoebus, a community in Hampton.

Every great team needs a leader. We are looking for someone who is vivacious and driven to manage our Tap Room, housed in the renovated turn of the century house that belonged to Clyde, our namesake. We need a seasoned manager who will help us create an insanely fun, public facing brand, promote on-site events (public and private), and handle Tap Room operations/scheduling. Our award-winning team of cider makers is crafting delicious hard ciders that need the support of an equally effervescent team of bartenders.

As Tap Room Manager, you will run one of Hampton Road’s most exciting bars, manage rentals and on-site event sales, and generate new sales through merchandise, loyalty programs, and packaged goods. Most importantly, you will connect with our amazing customers who share our deep commitment to creating a vibrant community around the craft scene experience.


  • Management

    • Ensure cider presentations and public engagement are of the highest quality

    • Set weekly bartending schedules, communicate with and actively manage staff

      • Ensure all bartenders are adhering to ABC regulations and Virginia law

      • Fill holes in schedules if bartender is sick or fails to show up

    • Ensure the proper function of equipment (glass washer, etc)

      • Clean tap lines to ensure cider quality

      • Maintain glassware inventory and cleanliness

      • Maintain taproom and courtyard organization and cleanliness at all times

      • Change kegs and keep keg room organized

    • Coordinate Food Truck schedules

    • Maintain merchandise inventory and re-order as necessary

  • Events

    • Design and Coordinate on-site events; plan, staff, and manage them

    • Book, schedule, and ensure private parties are staffed

    • Manage our Clyde Club customer loyalty program including subscriptions, renewals, and new-cider release events

  • Social Media

    • Help to promote Sly Clyde through social media channels with photos, and active posting. 

Experience and Skills

  • Required

    • 3+ years in hospitality: bartender, barista, waiter, etc

    • Knowledge of and passion for craft beverages, and craft cider in particular

    • Experience managing others and working within a team

    • A creative streak that embraces innovation and experimentation

    • Personability, patience, desire to connect with customers

  • Desired

    • Work with the Head Cidermaker shape the Sly Clyde taproom experience into something special

    • Set a positive tone in the Tap Room for bartenders and customers

    • Offer bold new ideas and implement them with dedication and thoroughness

    • Provide solutions when faced with challenges
